MEETING | Minutes

Attending: Andrew Glickson, Sheldon Miller, Louis Schulman

The meeting was called to order at 8:10 A.M.

Mr. Schulman reported that overtime is being reviewed on a weekly basis in the mechanics, bus drivers, and special service drivers’ categories, for which targets have been established.

Mr. Schulman also indicated that a new drivers’ class will be started in the coming weeks.

Mr. Schulman said that the new Gillig buses have gone on-line and should be completed and delivered to the District in February. The ten replacement body-on-chassis vehicles should be delivered in March.

Mr. Schulman reviewed the District’s list of capital projects that have been approved by the state. It includes a GPS AVL system for all vehicles, replacement of  floors on the SLF fleet, new computers and a new security system for the building, replacement of additional ADA vehicles, and funding for the coastal bus service study as well as some additional building improvements such as openable windows.

Mr. Schulman reported that staff had a presentation on an AVL system by a company out of Dublin. He said the District will probably hire a consultant to assist with specifications for the system as well as to help select the best vendor.

Mr. Schulman told the Commissioners that the District has resolved a problem with idling buses at Norwalk Community College.

Mr. Schulman noted that the District has a termination arbitration on Monday, the first arbitration in over three years.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 A.M.
