Must Have a Commercial Driver License (CDL).

The Norwalk Transit District is accepting applications from interested people for the position of Diesel/Automotive Mechanic. The diesel/Automotive Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of Norwalk Transit Districtā€™s fleet of diesel- and gas-powered vehicles, including buses, body-on-chassis vehicles and all support vehicles & vehicle related equipment.

Mechanics will be eligible for a $2,500 retention bonus.

Mechanics Helper
Up to $29.58/hr.

Mechanic Helper

The Mechanics Helper is responsible in assisting A and B Mechanics in the maintenance of Norwalk Transit Districtā€™s fleet of diesel and gas powered vehicles, including buses, body-on-chassis vehicles and all support vehicles; vehicle related components; vehicle support equipment; facilities and their related equipment; Service line Fueling, washing, Cleaning vehicles and garage floors; Help A/B and Foreman with light repair of HVAC, electrical and plumbing; maintaining all fixed passenger amenities; Other duties as assigned by the Foreman/Management.

Must Have a Commercial Driver License (CDL).

The Norwalk Transit District welcomes applications for driving positions year-round. Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted directly by the Human Resources Department. Candidates invited to the next round of hiring process must attend the Driver Trainee Program. The paid four (4) week program consists of two (2) weeks classroom training and two (2) weeks on the road training.

Upon successful completion of the Driver Trainee Program, bus operators will be eligible for $2,000 sign on bonus and $2,500 retention bonus payable per policy guidelines.
