[Norwalk, Connecticut – Thursday, September 21, 2023] Norwalk Transit District (NTD) celebrated its 50-year anniversary on Friday, September 8, 2023, at an event held at 314 Beer Garden in Norwalk. Half a century means a lot of miles driven by NTD ― 1,242,215 Revenue Miles in FY2023 alone ― bringing people to jobs, school, appointments, and more.

At the event, NTD received an Official Citation from the State of Connecticut General Assembly, “Be it herby known to all that: The Connecticut General Assembly herby offers its sincerest congratulations to Norwalk Transit District In recognition of The Momentous Occasion of Your 50th Anniversary Of Providing Valuable Transportation Options to Norwalk And Surrounding Communities…,” which was presented by state Senator Bob Duff, and state Representatives Tracy Marra, Dominique Johnson, and state Senator Maher.

“As Norwalk grows and evolves, we’ve set a high standard and vision for a more integrated transit system. We’re currently conducting a Comprehensive Operational Analysis which will enable us to enhance routing with a focus on seamless travel for riders, improve bus stops and shelters, and embrace new technologies ― from digitized payment systems to implementing the infrastructural backbone for zero emission buses,” said CEO Matt Pentz, “And we’re planning a service expansion this Fall for our Wheels2U ridesharing service – all good things for Norwalk’s future.”
